Dysentery
Dysentery is an infection of the intestine
(gut) caused by an amoeba called Entamoeba histolytica. It is
associated with colicky pain in the abdomen. The inflammation
causes stomach pains and diarrhoea. Some cases involve
vomiting and fever. The bacteria enters the body through the
mouth in food or water.
Causes

Dysentery is also spread through food that has been contaminated
with human faeces (especially cold, uncooked food such as
salad).

Dirty hands of infected people especially after bowel movement
when they don't wash their hands properly.
·
Dysentery can also be spread through contaminated food
·
The infection in digestive system caused by bacterial
proliferation.
Symptoms
·
Bloody
diarrhea.
·
Abdominal Cramps.
·
Fever.
·
Frequent
watery motions.
·
Severe abdominal pain
·
Loss
of appetite.
·
Nausea and vomiting
·
Stomach pains.
Diagnosis
·
Such as an
ultrasound, blood test or endoscopy, may be used if dysentery
has caused further problems, such as a liver abscess
·
Three stool
samples should be done in the laboratory to confirm the
presence of E. histolytica
·
There are
many blood tests that can be done for diagnosis having a high
degree of accuracy.
·
This
involves the use of a thin, lighted instrument inserted into
the rectum and colon to view them directly and tissue samples
are taken for laboratory examination.
·
Ultrasound
Remedies
·
Lemon juice
is good home remedy for dysentery. the mixture can be drunk
atleast 3 times daily.
·
A mixture of
1 tsp mint juice, 1/2 tsp ginger juice, and 1 tsp honey
relieves pain.
·
Small pieces
of onions mixed with curd can be given to the suffering person
up to six times daily.
·
Grate one
raw papaya. Add 3 cups of water and boil it for near about 10
mins. Now strain the mixture and drink.
