Acne and pimples

Acne is not just a problem for teenagers. Acne is a skin condition that causes spots.

Acne usually affects the skin of the face, back, neck, chest and arms.

Causes

·          Accumulation of dead skin cell.

·          Increase in hormones called androgens (male sex hormones)

·          Hormonal changes related to pregnancy can also cause acne.

·          Acne is caused by overactivity of the sebaceous glands that secrete oily substances on to your skin.

·          Hormones can cause pimples.

·          Eating junk food and chocolate normally causes pimples.

·          Contact with a dog's tongue (e.g., after a friendly lick)

·          Cosmetics

·          Skin exposure to extreme temperatures

·          Dirt in skin 

Symptoms

·          Greasy skin

·          Blackheads

·          Whiteheads

·          Red or yellow spots

·          Cysts

·          Scars 

Diagnosis

·          Acne is easily recognised by the appearance of the spots and by their distribution on the body.

Remedies
 

·         Garlic is used to cure acne. Rub with raw garlic five to six times a day. The external use of garlic helps to clear the skin of spots and pimples.

·         Mix a pinch of turmeric powder with a teaspoon of coriander juice, is another effective home remedy for pimples and blackheads.

·         Pasted cucumber can be used over face, neck for fifteen to twenty minutes has been found effective.

·         Pasted Pudina leaves can be used over face for fifteen to twenty minutes is found to be effective.

·         Neem leaves and turmeric powder can be pasted and used to cure pimples.
