PERSONAL DETAILS
Born on 4th sept.1956 to a
middle class couple at Ooty.
His father Late Mr.Lakshmanan was a merchant. Mother Masiammal
is house wife. He is the eldest of their four children, one
sister and two brothers.
He started his primary education at Ooty Municipal high
school. At the age of 9 he was put in a boarding school at Sri
Vivekananda higher secondary school at Tirupparaithurai, a
small village near Trichy. After completing his schooling he
did his PUC at Bishop Heber College, Trichy.
In 1974 he joined Stanley Medical College at Madras and
completed his basic medical education in 1981. During his
undergraduate course period itself he was interested in
surgical speciality and this brought him to the General
surgery department of Coimbatore Medical college, Coimbatore,
as senior house surgeon.
Subsequently he did his Masters in gen.surgery at Madurai
Medical College between 1982 to 1985.
Then worked as general surgeon at Swedish Mission Hospital,
Tiruppattur. Started his cardiac surgical carrier at JIPMER,
Pondicherry as senior registrar in the dept of cardiac
surgery. He received his superspeciality training in Cardiac
surgery at Madras Medical College in 1988.
After his education worked with Dr.KM Cherian at Madras
Medical Mission, Madras. In 1990 had a small stint at
Brioompton hospital, London in cardiac surgery.
His zeal to return to mother country saw him come back to join
Manipal hospital Bangalore as consultant cardiothoracic
surgeon.
In 1993 he joined as Head of the department of cardiac surgery
at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences,
Puttaparthy, were he gained enormous sugical experience. The
inner drive for campaigning for community cause also came by
seeing the enormous social activities taking place there.
Later he worked at Mediciti hospitals, Hyderabad before he came
to Combatore.
He joined Sri Ramakrishna Hospitals in 1997 and started the
cardiovascular surgery department, here His fields of interest
includes coronary artery bypass surgery, pediatric cardiac
surgery and cardiac transplantation.
